Students then researched and worked on experiments to show transformation of matter. The experiments helped them to further their understanding of states of matter, and the conditions necessary to cause changes to these states. Unit 1 - Who We Are

Key concepts: function, change, responsibility Related concepts: matter, transformation, energy, development Learner profile: knowledgeable, inquirers, thinkers Approaches to Learning: thinking, research We started our new unit of inquiry: Who we are, with an activity making mind maps of our prior knowledge.  We looked at body systems, beginning with the skeletal system. Students put together a skeleton using reference books in our classroom library. Students then learned about the muscular and digestive systems, using books and online resources.  They formed their own questions, then researched those questions presenting the information by creating posters sharing what they had learned

We worked hard developing our communication and thinking skills, and making connections between our own life and our art.   We created characters and wrote our own scripts for our end of year performance, creating props and costumes.   English In English we continued working on our narrative writing, looking at artworks for inspiration.   We also worked on our persuasive writing by preparing for weekly debates.   Grade 3 was very excited to debate each other, a
