Dear Parents, Great news! A new boy, Seitaro, will join our class from next Friday! This week we started our new unit: sharing the planet: our actions affect life on Earth! We tuned into the unit by sharing what we think the central idea means-there were a lot of excellent ideas! We then looked up the meaning of a biome in the dictionary and made a list of biomes. We chose a biome that sounded interesting, and researched living factors, non-living factors, and the location of the biome. In Maths, we distributed our surveys to different grades, collected the data, and represented it in a bar graph. It was fun! In PSPE, we played team building games in the gym!  In English, we focused on finding the main details of a chapter and using evidence to support our reasoning. We began reading The Halloween House. Term 2 Week 6 and 7

Dear Parents, We finished up our where we are in place and time unit, Ancient civlisations impact our lives,  over the past two weeks. The students worked really hard and made some amazing connections! After researching Ancient Egypt, the students became inspired and wanted to make some crafts of their own choice! I agreed and had just one rule-the students needed to research and share some facts about what they made. This was a really fun way to learn! I think Grade 3 made really cool Egyptian crafts! We presented for our classmates and explained some cool facts! After that, we compared and contrasted two ancient civilisations of our choice. It was interesting to look at what was similar and different in the various ancient civilisations! We worked on our Approaches to Learning.
