Term 2 Week 6 and 7

Dear Parents,

We finished up our where we are in place and time unit, Ancient civlisations impact our lives, over the past two weeks. The students worked really hard and made some amazing connections!

After researching Ancient Egypt, the students became inspired and wanted to make some crafts of their own choice! I agreed and had just one rule-the students needed to research and share some facts about what they made. This was a really fun way to learn!

I think Grade 3 made really cool Egyptian crafts!

We presented for our classmates and explained some cool facts!

After that, we compared and contrasted two ancient civilisations of our choice. It was interesting to look at what was similar and different in the various ancient civilisations!

We worked on our Approaches to Learning. We brainstormed which communication skills we could improve, and then focused on improving them. Everyone felt that they had improved!

For the first time, the students created a rubric. This is a scale from 1 to 4. They thought of ideas for what should be included in their summative assessments and the grade that it would correspond to.

This is what they came up with-it's quite good for their first attempt!

For our summative assessment (final project) of the unit, we worked hard to make an advert that would persuade someone to visit an ancient civilisation. We had to show our understanding of our central idea. It was very interesting! The students presented their work to their classmates and shared their work on Seesaw.

Finally, we enjoyed some team games at the park!

Enjoy the National Holiday tomorrow!
Ms. Stacy.
