Dear Parents, In English, we practiced note-taking, worked on recognising and  fixing incorrect sentences, identified the main events in a story, and used these to help us sequence events, and summarise a story. We looked at and gathered information from charts, and created our own charts to clearly display information. We also took a Raz Kids reading assessment, to make sure that we are reading at the correct level. This prompted some discussion on the importance of reading every day to help improve our reading skills and English fluency. In Maths, we looked at some 3D shapes and realised the importance of the depth or height of a shape. We discovered that the volume of a shape is how much space it takes up, measured in cubic centimeters (cm ³  ).  We made shapes using blocks and counted how many blocks there were. Dear Parents, In English, we focused on understanding cause and effect relationships. We identified cause and effect in non-fiction texts. We also created our own cause and effect examples. We used dictionaries to look up the meaning of our spelling words. We continued to practice editing our work. This really helped us to understand the concept of mass and the difference be

Dear Parents, Happy New Year! I hope you all had a good break! This week in Grade 3, we got used to our school routines again. We especially had to work on speaking English, our common language to include everyone, as we got out of the habit over the vacation. We also had a bit of an easier week, as we didn't have any spellings or kanji to learn. These will start from next week. In English class, we compared and contrasted how we celebrated New Year's Eve with another culture. We used our shared reading book "Happy New Year Around the World" to help us with that. We drew a Venn Diagram to show display our data. We also practiced editing our work. We used our writing of our Winter Vacation to help us. We worked on spotting our grammatical errors, spellings mistakes, missing words, and punctuation in our sentences. In Maths class, we measured time. We started by converting between units of time (seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks). We also l
