Dear Parents, Thank you to everyone who could attend Family Picnic! It was a great day and it was fun to spend time with you outside of school! In Morning Meeting, we focused on the learner profile attribute caring.  We brainstormed ideas of what being caring means. We did caring challenges throughout the week. We thought of positive and negative ways to solve problems, and created skits to act out our ideas. In English class, we continued reading articles to help us find the answer to our key question:  what makes someone a good team member?  We read a story called "Tag, You're it" and used examples from the story to help answer our key question. We also practiced using the past tense of verbs in our writing. We read "My Brain" to connect to our inquiry and find the answers to some of our questions about the nervous system. In Maths class, we worked on rounding numbers to the nearest hundred. We used our "rounding roller-coaster" to help us to

Dear Parents, In Morning Meeting, we focused on the Learner Profile Attribute balanced. We made a poster to show how we can be balanced academically, emotionally, and physically. Dear Parents, We had a great first week of Grade 3! We got to know each other by making a poster titled "All About Me" and making a presentation to the class. We got to know our new classroom routines. We worked in teams to create our class "Essential Agreement". These are like the rules of our class that we need to follow. The students had some great ideas! In English class, we read "Chicken Little". We practiced making predictions about the story by guessing what we thought the book was about, and what would happen next. We drew pictures and wrote sentences about the problem and solution in the story. We found quotation marks in the book, and practiced writing using quotation marks. We learned what a synonym is, and thought of our own examples. In Maths class, we practiced reading and understanding four-digit numbers. We broke each digit down into thousands, hundreds, tens, and ones. We used this expanded form of the numbers to further understand w

Welcome!

Dear Parents, Welcome to Grade 3! I hope the students are well rested and ready for another busy year! My name is Stacy O'Sullivan. I am from Ireland. I have been teaching for 8 years (2 1/2 years at AIS). My hobbies include playing futsal, photography, superhero movies, watching rugby, and playing ukulele. Before moving to Osaka 2 1/2 years ago, I was teaching in Thailand for 3 years. I have also lived in Australia and England. I really love travelling and have been to many countries. I am very passionate about IB. It has been wonderful to see from the beginning how IB has been implemented in our school, and how we go from strength to strength each year. I was very proud of our school community when we got verification from IB, and I hope we can continue to do great things with this curriculum. I am very excited to teach your children this year! They are a great group of kids and I am excited to get to know them more! I have spoken with Mr. Derek about their progress, so t
