Dear Parents, We have been busy inquiring into the Digestive System. Students worked in groups to create a menu for a restaurant. Using their research of food groups, they chose food for their menu based on the different food groups needed for a balanced and healthy diet. They also learned how to use Google Docs to help with this. We measured the length of objects in our homes, worked on our estimating skills, learned about perimeter, and practiced calculating the perimeter of objects. We used graphic organisers to help structure our writing plans. We read books and practiced answering comprehension questions, and learned how to spell words beginning with "in". We celebrated Earth Day and World Book Day by creating some art. We also learned about perspective in art, and how to make objects look up close or far away. I hope the students enjoy their break! Happy Golden Week! Ms. Stacy.

Dear Parents, This week we worked on understanding numbers and practicing how to say numbers correctly, and quickly adding 1000 to a number. The beginning of Grade 3 maths is a lot of reviewing number understanding from last year. The students are doing great with this! We used describing words in English class, and played some games to work on this. We also answered some comprehension questions about a girl who has a rock for a best friend, and did some opinion writing. We also practiced spelling words with "au" or "augh". We finished up inquiring into bones and the skeletal system and started inquiring into food and the digestive system. We practiced researching information online using dkfindout.com, learned how to draw a skeleton, and played a quiz created by the class! Have a great weekend! Ms. Stacy.

Dear Parents, We have started the new school year in a very unusual way! Hopefully we can go back to normal life as soon as possible. For now, it is great that we are able to continue our education online! The students have all been very motivated to learn. This week has been a lot of fun. Some Grade 6 students hosted a game of Jeopardy for us. Today we had a special guest join our lesson all the way from USA-Mr. Derek! We read "April Fools' Joke" in English class and wrote about connections to our own lives. Before we read the book, we tried to guess what the book would be about, and wrote down our predictions. We also practiced speaking and listening in small groups, and shared our own stories about April Fools'. In Maths class we looked at 4-digit numbers. We practiced saying the numbers correctly, writing out numbers in different forms (standard, base ten, expanded, and word), identifying the value of certain digits in a number, and played a game to practice
