Term 1 Week 1

Dear Parents,

We have started the new school year in a very unusual way! Hopefully we can go back to normal life as soon as possible. For now, it is great that we are able to continue our education online! The students have all been very motivated to learn. This week has been a lot of fun. Some Grade 6 students hosted a game of Jeopardy for us. Today we had a special guest join our lesson all the way from USA-Mr. Derek!

We read "April Fools' Joke" in English class and wrote about connections to our own lives. Before we read the book, we tried to guess what the book would be about, and wrote down our predictions. We also practiced speaking and listening in small groups, and shared our own stories about April Fools'.

In Maths class we looked at 4-digit numbers. We practiced saying the numbers correctly, writing out numbers in different forms (standard, base ten, expanded, and word), identifying the value of certain digits in a number, and played a game to practice identifying the largest number.

In UOI, we tuned into our first unit, Who we are, by sharing everything we already know about the human body. After that, we read some books, watched some videos, and researched online to find out information about bones. We found a lot of very interesting facts. We thought of some questions about bones that we will make into a quiz for next week.

Have a nice weekend and stay safe,
Ms. Stacy.
