Term 2 Week 12

Dear Parents,

English:
We worked on reading comprehension using our level books on Raz Kids and practiced using the books to find answers to quizzes.  We read two folktales called "How Turtle got his shell" and "Why Tiger can't climb trees" and discussed the plot, characters, setting, and comparisons in the books. We used apostrophes to learn about possessive nouns. We found that when 'im' or 'un' is before a word it gives it the opposite meaning.

Maths:
We practiced finding the volume of shapes by counting the cubes, and also discovered that we can find the volume by multiplying the length x width x height. We inquired into containers and how much they good hold, capacity. We had a challenge to find out which container could hold more. We finally discovered that we could use measuring jugs to find out the capacity. We also reviewed x3 multiplication.

Unit of Inquiry:
We worked very hard to finish our summative assessment projects. We built 3D models of a biome and made a poster to describe the features, human impact, and a plan for protecting our biome. We will present our project to the class next week, and display our work in the gym for other students to see!

Reminders:
-There will be no school tomorrow (Friday).
-Next week is Science Week. You can do experiments at home and your child can make a poster or send a picture.
-We will wear a costume on Friday, 30th. Please read the Science Week email for details.

Have a good weekend,
Ms. Stacy.
