Term 2 Week 14

Dear Parents,

English:
We began reading 'The Frog Chef'. We guessed what a story might be about by just looking at the title and illustrations. We focused on understanding cause and effect by creating and answering questions. We found examples of words that end in the suffix 'ing', and discussed what happens to a word when ing is added.

Maths:
We worked with 2D shapes. We explored their properties. We looked at different ways to move shapes, and made models to represent shapes that flip, turn, and slide. We explored lines of symmetry, compared symmetrical and asymmetrical shapes, and drew tessellation pictures. We reviewed dividing by two.

Unit of Inquiry:
We began our fifth unit of inquiry! We brainstormed ideas about how we (as a society) organise. We split into teams to create posters of the transdisciplinary theme, central idea, related concepts, and lines of inquiry. We researched using dictionaries to find the meaning of the new vocabulary. We shared ideas for how the unit might go, and shared examples of goods and services to help us to understand our first line of inquiry. We took part in challenges to allow us to understand our first related concept, cooperation.

Have a good weekend!
Ms. Stacy.
