Week 12

Dear Parents,

We had our last full week of term 1! The time has gone by so fast!

We are still working on the Learner Profile Attributes each day. We have improved a lot this term and will continue to try our best to be balanced, caring, communicators, open-minded, knowledgeable, risk-takers, inquirers, thinkers, reflective, and principled!

We talked about train safety and made some posters for homework to communicate to everyone the importance of being safe around trains.

This week we began working on our summative assessments for our second unit: how the world works. The students decided that they wanted to research and carry out a science experiments to show their understanding of matter and energy. We have had a lot of fun this week figuring out how to do our experiments. We researched the procedures online, wrote out plans, made material lists, drew out diagrams, made predictions, and started setting up our experiments. We are almost finished. Next week, we will finish them and reflect on what we understand.

We had a great day celebrating Japanese Culture Day! We made art for Tanabata, wore great costumes, ate nagashi somen, and played really fun games!

Information:
-if you would like your child to take home their belongings for the summer, please send a bag with them next week (this is not a requirement-it is your choice)
-the last day of term is Wednesday
-PTCs are Friday

See you next week!
