Term 2 Week 1

Dear Parents,

Welcome back! I hope everyone enjoyed the summer break!


We used dictionaries to find the meaning of new vocabulary words for our new unit, where we are in place and time "Ancient civilisations impact our lives".




We wrote poems and shared them with our friends.

We found parallel and perpendicular lines in real life.


We brainstormed ideas for our first line of inquiry "Ancient civilisations". The students thought of a lot of great ideas!

We looked in the library for books connected to our unit.

We researched information for our unit using books and the internet.




We checked the world map to see where some ancient civilsations were.


We played some team building games!

Week 8

Dear Parents, Great news! A new boy, Seitaro, will join our class from next Friday! This week we started our new unit: sharing the planet: our actions affect life on Earth! We tuned into the unit by sharing what we think the central idea means-there were a lot of excellent ideas! We then looked up the meaning of a biome in the dictionary and made a list of biomes. We chose a biome that sounded interesting, and researched living factors, non-living factors, and the location of the biome. In Maths, we distributed our surveys to different grades, collected the data, and represented it in a bar graph. It was fun! In PSPE, we played team building games in the gym!  In English, we focused on finding the main details of a chapter and using evidence to support our reasoning. We began reading The Halloween House.
