Term 2 Week 4

Dear Parents,

We had fun inquiring into the Ancient Greeks! The students discovered during their research that the Ancient Greeks used their own alphabet, and decided to try to decode it into the English language. They had a lot of fun writing secret messages and decoding the meanings. We made connections between the past and today by looking at three parts of Greek life: mythology, democracy, and the Olympics.















We had fun learning about angles in Maths class. We found the names of right, acute, obtuse, straight, and reflex angles, and compared them.

Week 8

Dear Parents, Great news! A new boy, Seitaro, will join our class from next Friday! This week we started our new unit: sharing the planet: our actions affect life on Earth! We tuned into the unit by sharing what we think the central idea means-there were a lot of excellent ideas! We then looked up the meaning of a biome in the dictionary and made a list of biomes. We chose a biome that sounded interesting, and researched living factors, non-living factors, and the location of the biome. In Maths, we distributed our surveys to different grades, collected the data, and represented it in a bar graph. It was fun! In PSPE, we played team building games in the gym!  In English, we focused on finding the main details of a chapter and using evidence to support our reasoning. We began reading The Halloween House.
