Term 2 Week 5

Dear Parents, 

In Maths class we looked at patterns and figured out the missing pieces of patterns. We learned about a function machine and had fun creating our own.







In English, we researched in groups to find out what pronouns are and when we should use them.







We shared our research on Greek democracy, mythology, and Olympics.





We inquired into the Ancient Egyptians. We found a lot of information using dkfindout.com, kiddle.co, and our library books. We then decided to research different crafts and make them. The students all chose really cool Egyptian crafts to make and we had a lot of fun!













We practiced for Sports Day.

We are having a lot of fun following the Rugby World Cup!

Week 8

Dear Parents, Great news! A new boy, Seitaro, will join our class from next Friday! This week we started our new unit: sharing the planet: our actions affect life on Earth! We tuned into the unit by sharing what we think the central idea means-there were a lot of excellent ideas! We then looked up the meaning of a biome in the dictionary and made a list of biomes. We chose a biome that sounded interesting, and researched living factors, non-living factors, and the location of the biome. In Maths, we distributed our surveys to different grades, collected the data, and represented it in a bar graph. It was fun! In PSPE, we played team building games in the gym!  In English, we focused on finding the main details of a chapter and using evidence to support our reasoning. We began reading The Halloween House.
