Term 2 Week 10

Dear Parents,
We enjoyed another great week in Grade 3!

We read "Life in the Desert Night". We practiced using a dictionary to search for the meaning of new vocabulary, we answered questions to improve our comprehension, and listened to and discussed the book to build up our fluency.

We worked on some division problems, and also how to understand word problems in Maths. We practiced reading maps and following written instructions. It was a lot of fun!







We played group team-building games at the park-the weather was perfect!



We enjoyed painting some biomes art as a relaxing end to our week!





Oops! I didn't notice that they had their eyes closed!



Important information:
-Parents' Day is Wednesday
-I started setting "Merit homework" for some days. This is optional homework.

Week 8

Dear Parents, Great news! A new boy, Seitaro, will join our class from next Friday! This week we started our new unit: sharing the planet: our actions affect life on Earth! We tuned into the unit by sharing what we think the central idea means-there were a lot of excellent ideas! We then looked up the meaning of a biome in the dictionary and made a list of biomes. We chose a biome that sounded interesting, and researched living factors, non-living factors, and the location of the biome. In Maths, we distributed our surveys to different grades, collected the data, and represented it in a bar graph. It was fun! In PSPE, we played team building games in the gym!  In English, we focused on finding the main details of a chapter and using evidence to support our reasoning. We began reading The Halloween House.
