Term 2 Week 15
Dear Parents,
We practiced for the ISA tests. It was good to have a chance to practice sitting quietly and not talking!
In English class this week we used our shared book "How Turtle Got His Shell" and "Why Tiger Can't Climb Trees" to answer comprehension questions about why characters behaved in certain ways. We also worked on proofreading and editing our work. We practiced speaking clearly to share what we have learned with our classmates.
In Maths, we looked at equations. We saw that some equations can be balanced and some can be unbalanced. We figured out the unknown number of an equation, which is represented by a symbol. We also practiced really difficult equations using teamwork!
In UOI, we read the story of Andy Warhol and saw that art can be anything-from a piece of trash to a can of soup!
Everyone in the class had to come up with one question they had so far in our unit. After looking at the questions, I noticed they fell into four main categories:
-Who made art?
-Why was art made?
-Why do we have art?
-Can art be anything?
We used the chromebooks to research these questions and shared our findings with our classmates.
Having looked at different textures and patterns, we worked on our art skills by drawing a landscape and using different patterns to design it.
Now that we have some more knowledge about art, we shared what sentence comes to mind when given the prompt "Art is..."
Reminders:
-Next week is the last week of term 2!
-Friday, 20th will be a free dress day (no uniform).
-There is no after school clubs next week.
Have a great weekend!
Ms. Stacy.
