Term 2 Weeks 13-14 and Science and Numeracy Week

Dear Parents,

We enjoyed Science and Numeracy Week by doing some extra Science and Maths activities. We also enjoyed daily Maths challenges and the Science Fair. Here are some of the activities we did.

English: We sorted opinion statements from other statements. We practiced how to write opinion statements and how to write an outline for an opinion piece using a graphic organiser. We worked on writing paragraphs with reasons and examples to support our opinions, and edited our work.

Maths: We connected our Maths lessons to our Science and Numeracy Week theme, and made bar graphs using ocean animal data. We learned about a tangram and practiced visualising shapes by making tangram art pieces. We also practiced reading and understanding word problems.

UOI: For our summative assessment (final project) we made 3d models (or dioramas) of the ocean biome to display at the Science Fair. Students worked hard to design and make their ocean, including evidence of human impact. They turned out great!

Thank you,
Ms. Stacy.
