Term 3 Week 1

 Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a nice and relaxing vacation. We were very excited to get back to school! We had a very exciting end to the week when we got to play in the snow!

English: We finished writing our opinion pieces before the break. We practiced reading with expression, projecting our voices, and making eye contact as we read our opinion pieces for our classmates. We also wrote about our winter vacation. We learned spelling words that begin with "inter".

Maths: We investigated mass. We practiced using both digital and analogue scales to measure the mass of various objects. We noted that mass is measured in grams (g) and kilograms (kg). We had a lot of fun estimating the mass of objects. We also converted grams into kilograms and kilograms into grams.

UOI: We played a game of musical chairs to learn the concept of supply and demand. We practiced identifying the role of supply and demand in a relation to various goods. We read about a farmer who carried buckets of water back from a well every morning and compared our lives with his. This caused us to reflect on how goods and services have changed over the years. We watched a video about industrialisation and researched how different inventions have affected goods and services.
