Term 3 Week 2

Dear Parents,

We enjoyed another four day week at school. We have been learning how to play handball during PSPE class. We also took our photos for the yearbook this week.

English: We learned spelling words that start with "anti" and noted that when we see a word that starts with that prefix, we should know that it means to stop something or the opposite of that word. We identified nouns, abstract nouns, adjectives, and adverbs. We looked at examples of poems and decided which were examples of imagery, sound devices, figurative language, or form. We also took a reading comprehension test.

Maths: We answered some questions connected to our understanding of mass, estimating mass, and converting between kg and g. We reviewed basic fractions, and used hundred squares to visualise decimals. We compared decimals and could identify which was greater when given two examples. We also practiced 3, 6, and 9 times tables.

UOI: We shared our research about goods that were invented and gave our opinions on the Industrial Revolution and how it affected goods and services. We brought in goods from home and saw that although most of the items were made in Japan, many of them were made overseas. This gave us the realisation that countries are buying and selling goods. We watched a video about Globalisation and talked about the positive and negative affects for people and the environment. Finally, we talked about our summative assessment and decided on creating a classroom market. We brainstormed our ideas for what this will be like.

Thank you,

Ms. Stacy.
